Spain - Broadband Market - Overview, Statistics & Forecasts
Spain's broadband penetration in 2006 remained below the European Union (EU) average, while subscribers have continued to contend with relatively high access prices and slow data speeds. Nevertheless, the country has one of the largest populations in Europe and the broadband market is potentially huge. The regulator has been more strident in forcing the incumbent, Telefónica, to allow wholesale access to its DSL services, while stronger take-up of Local Loop Unbundling promises greater competition, and lower consumer prices, in coming years. This report profiles Spain's fixed and wireless broadband markets in 2006, together with developments in related technologies such as fibre, and broadband powerline. It also provides forecasts for broadband take-up to 2015.

Spain - Convergence - Triple Play & Digital TV
Spain has developed a strong triple play market since 2005, largely as a result of the proliferation of ADSL2+ and increased investment in cable network upgrades. With this infrastructure capable of managing high-bandwidth applications, providers have extended the reach of IPTV and VoIP to large parts of the country. Satellite TV has seen considerable changes in recent years following the merger of Telefónica's Via Digital with Canal Satélite Digital. Digital Terrestrial TV (DTTV) took off in Spain earlier than elsewhere in Europe, but collapsed in 2002 before being re-launched in late 2005. This report provides an overview of Spain's broadband market in 2006, including recent developments in triple play and VoIP services and an assessment of the digital and satellite TV markets.

Spain - Key Statistics, Telecom Market & Regulatory Overviews
Spain's telecom market grew almost 10% in 2005, reaching nearly €41 billion. The market is technologically advanced, with high mobile penetration and growing broadband take-up backed by considerable investment in infrastructure. Nevertheless, only a small proportion of broadband accesses can adequately support high bandwidth services such as triple play and Video-on-Demand, so further upgrades are required in coming years for the convergence sector to take hold. These difficulties are being addressed by companies such as Jazztel, as well as by the incumbent, which have developed ADSL2+ and VDSL services. This report introduces the key aspects of the Spanish telecom market in 2006, providing statistics on the country and the fixed network services sector, and profiles of the main players and their strategies to meet an increasingly competitive environment in coming years. The report also assesses the key regulatory issues, noting the status of interconnection, local loop unbundling, number portability and carrier preselection.

Spain - Mobile Market - Overview & Statistics
Spain has one of the largest mobile markets in Europe, underwritten by a population of more than 43 million. Strong growth in 2005 and 2006 was encouraged by competition between the three main players, which has driven down the cost of services. The market saw some major changes in 2006. Orange has been able to exploit the resources of its parent company France Telecom to secure the lion's share of net adds and overtake Vodafone as the number two player. After considerable delays the MVNO market was opened in October 2006, and the emergence of a number of licensed operators in 2007 promises too intensify competition further. The 3G market will also see greater changes in 2007 with the launch of services from Xfera. This report provides statistics and research on the Spanish mobile market in 2007, including an assessment of regulatory issues, a profile of the major providers, and an analysis of mobile data services such as SMS, MMS, i-Mode, HSDPA and mobile TV.
