Nepal - Data, Internet, Mobile and Broadcasting Nepal has been ranked by the United Nations as a Lesser Developed Country (LDC). It has been moving cautiously towards a more liberal market, although it has been doing so in a climate of political unease. As this report shows, despite its limitations, it has been promising to be one of the more energetic Internet markets in the region. The early steps towards opening up the market - the number of ISPs that have already been licensed and the liberalisation of the VSAT data market - have created excellent conditions for the Internet to grow. The report also looks at the country's mobile market, as this particular market is opened up, as well as the TV broadcasting market in Nepal.

Amid an unsettled political climate, the country has been moving towards a more liberalised telecom market.
