Morocco - Convergence Broadband & Internet Markets
Morocco's Internet market is dominated by Maroc Telecom (MT)'s ADSL broadband service which held over 90% of the market until recently. Despite this de-facto monopoly position, the country has some of the lowest broadband prices and highest penetration rates in Africa and has seen the introduction of innovative new services such as the first commercial IPTV service on the continent. 2007 saw the introduction of third-generation mobile broadband services, and within less than two years this sub-sector had taken more than a third of the broadband market. This development is expected to continue, since the mobile networks reach a far greater percentage of the population than MT's copper fixed-line network. To accommodate the increasing amount of Internet traffic, international connectivity and fibre optic national backbone networks are being expanded, and WiMAX is being rolled as the next-generation access technology.

Morocco - Key Statistics Regulatory Fixed-Line Telecoms Overviews
Morocco is one of the most advanced telecommunications markets in Africa, featuring a majority-privatised, highly profitable incumbent telco, three fixed and mobile network operators, as well as the highest penetration and some of the lowest prices on the continent for broadband Internet access. The fixed-line market is currently experiencing a renaissance, following the launch of the second and third network operators and fuelled by the growing demand for broadband services. Most of the new connections are wireless, with both new service providers rolling out WiMAX networks in parallel to using their mobile platforms for the provision of fixed services. To accommodate the increasing amount of voice and Internet traffic, the operators are upgrading their fibre optic national backbone networks and international connectivity.

Morocco - Mobile Market Overview, Statistics & Forecasts
The duopoly in Morocco's mobile market between Maroc Telecom and Meditel came to an end in June 2008 when the third entrant, Wana, started offering mobile services on its CDMA2000 network. With all three companies also being fixed-line or fixed-wireless operators, the boundaries between fixed and mobile are beginning to disappear as technologies and services converge. In addition, the three mobile networks are set to become major players in the country's Internet market following the launch of third-generation (3G) mobile broadband services. This report contains an overview and analysis of Morocco's mobile market, profiles of the major players, relevant statistics, and scenario forecasts to 2010 and 2015.
