 French Polynesia - Telecoms Market Overview & Statistics
The Office des Postes et Telecommunications (OPT) provides domestic telecommunications services, mobile telephony and Internet services, while Tahiti Nui Telecommunications provides international voice services. The telecom system is quite advanced, with all the islands connected to the world networks by satellites. The islands are served by one ISP and one GSM mobile network. Broadband is available for the most populated Society Islands via a high-speed ADSL broadband. Alcatel has conducted a 3G/UMTS trial of multimedia high-speed UMTS services, such as video telephony.
