 Bulgaria - Key Statistics, Regulatory & Fixed Line Telecoms Overviews
This report provides an overview of Bulgaria's growing telecom sector, accompanied by relevant statistics and brief profiles of the main operators. Regulation is intended to be aligned with that of the European Union, which Bulgaria is on target to join in 2007. The effects of the most recently implemented legislation are being felt as alternative operators have launched services and are acquiring market share in the liberalised fixed-line market, albeit at a slow pace. Fixed-line network development is continuing as the country has to meet digitalisation targets as part of its EU ascension requirements. A number of deployments are underway, with concessions to offer wireless services awarded and broadband infrastructure deployed.
